my-favorite-books-2016-editonHello my demons! 2016 is nearing its bitter end. Boy oh boy, what a year it has been. I am just as excited to see this painfully difficult year come to an end as most of us. Its been rough. Thats not to say nothing good has happened…But lets be real, its been craptastic. I mean, the election, losing Alan Rickman, David Bowie, Prince, to Harambe and the disappointment that was Suicide Squad. Its been rough.

On the bright side, there have been quite a few amazing things too! We got Fantastic Beasts, A Court of Mist and Fury, also Suicide Squad (I have a love-hate relationship with that movie) and of course I published my first book Darkness Whispers.

I wasn’t able to read as much I would have liked to this year. But I did do a lit of re-reads of books that I love, and a few new reads too. So without further ado, here are my favorite reads of 2016…

Amelia Hutchins: Fighting Destiny series. I LOVE this series, I can’t get enough. Its has magic, witches, vampires, brooding sexy fae warriors and lots of hawt smut scenes. Warning, this series in NFSW…is that the correct acronym? Anyhoo, its not for people who don’t like sexy time in their books. But if you like yourself a sexy alpha male, get on this series! Or any of her books… You can find them here.

Sarah J Maas: Throne of Glass or A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I don’t even know where to begin with Miss Maas. I have been head over heels for everything she writes. Two words- SEXY FAE. I might have a pattern with my favorite books… haha. Anyhoo, Darkness Whispers has been compared to Throne of Glass, which is super flattering. Maas’ books are phenomenal. I am partial to the ACOTAR series, but TOG is just as good! You can find these books literally anywhere.

Angela Roquet: Graveyard Shift (Lana Harvey Reapers Inc.) This series is one of my favorite series of all time. I love it so very much! I re read the first few books this year, so it totally counts as 2016. Its about reapers in the afterlife which combines all of the faiths. Christianity, Hindu, Muslim etc…Every deity ever worshiped has a place in this world. I love it! I won’t post what the book is about, but the premise of reapers and Grim being the head hauncho with a war between the different afterlives brewing is always a good time. That, and the sexy men! You can get the first book for free here.

Kathryn Purdie: Burning Glass. I read this book back in February, and fell HARD! I love it. Its dark and twisted and all the things. Its a river of pure deliciousness and everyone should read it. It has Russian ties and and and and all the things! READ IT NOW! Get it here.

Bethany Griffin: Masque of the Red Death- Very steam punk and Edgar Allen Poe-esq. Dark, bizarre and weird. LOVED! Its a completed duolgy so you get your resolution. Get it here.

Megan Spooner: Hunted- I had the privilege to read this book early. It isn’t set too be released until March 2017. But you guys, it is SOOO good. I loved it. Those of you who know me, know I LOVE Beauty and the Beast and Russia. This book is a retelling with Russian influences. It was like written for me, I swear it. I have a thing for darkness…This book was dark, intriguing and different enough that I kept turning the pages all in one sitting. 5/5 Pre order here.

Martina Boone: Compulsion serieshere.

Samantha Shannon: The Bone Seasonhere.

Maggie Steifvater- The Raven Boys-here.

Danielle Paige- Stealing Snowhere.
